Financial councellor Jarmo Väisänen (66) has been appointed as a new Member of the Baltic Connector Oy’s Board. Väisänen has a noteworthy experience in board work in over 30 different companies, which amongst others include listed companies like Kemira and Sponda.
Väisänen has worked at the Ownership Steering Department in the Prime Minister’s Office since 2007. He has been in charge of the strategy of the ownership steering for Neste, Vapo and Fortum. At the moment he acts as the Chairman of the Board for Suomen Erillisverkot Oy and as a Board Member at Gasum Oy, State Business Development Company Vake Oy and Alko Oy.
Esa Härmälä will continue as the Chairman of the Board of Baltic Connector Oy. Päivi Janka, Deputy Director General, and Antero Jännes, Energy Councellor, will continue as Members of the Board.
Baltic Connector Oy is a state-owned company established in 2015 to implement the Finnish part of the Balticconnector gas pipeline project. Balticconnector is a gas pipeline connecting Finland and Estonia that will enable the interconnection of Baltic and Finnish gas markets and implement the opening of the gas market in Finland. The completion of Balticconnector is scheduled for 2020.
